The Mātātā (Fernbird) is an endemic bird to Aotearoa. A small chestnut coloured songbird that is more often heard than seen in repo (wetlands) around the motu. Along with my interest in native manu this work was inspired by Don Binney's work 'Summer Fernbird 11' 1966.
