Happy Clappers was one of a series of paintings Mike completed in mid 2023 focussing on political theatre. Sourced from found press photography these paintings seek to isolate gestural features in order to confound our reflexive tendency to focus on facial features to the detriment of an understanding of politics as spectacle.
