As a French artist living in New Zealand, I am drawn to the unique and meaningful designs found in Ta Moko.

Ta Moko is a visual representation of one's identity, reflecting status, social position, and personal history. I borrow the same concept to visually represent a human identity in a three-dimensional form. The leather beads represent the months, semesters or years in the person's life; the three layers of wood represent the different stages of life: childhood, adulthood and third age. The holes illustrate choices offered along the way and decisions made.

My sculpture embodies the idea that our identities are deeply connected to our histories and cultural traditions.

I believe that by visually representing a human's journey in this way, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Overall, my artwork is a celebration of cultural traditions and the power of art to convey deep meaning and identity. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to explore and appreciate the rich diversity of human identities and the beauty of cultural traditions like Ta Moko.
