Rīhari Warnock

Rīhari Warnock is a Manawatū born artist whose whakapapa is to Ngāti Manu and Ngāpuhi. Rīhari works and lives in Te Whanganui-a-Tara where he practices art and studies Māori studies and Te reo Māori. Rīhari has always been an artist; his grandmother Joyce and father Mark introduced him to art at a young age and ever since Rīhari has been producing art at a prolific rate. Since he can remember, Rīhari has been fascinated by the natural world and it has always been central to what he creates. Rīharis' 13-year background in tattooing pushed him to experiment with contrast, scale, and shape and has played an integral role in developing his unique art style. His work has been extremely influential in the tattooing industry; he continuously pushed the edge of tattooing in Aotearoa and across the world, bringing bigger and bolder work and new subject matter to the forefront of the industry while maintaining unique and beautiful movement. Stemming from his journey of reconnection with te ao Māori, his art practice focuses on the natural world, and remembering and paying respect to the species and taonga of Aotearoa.
