Rug hooking became a passion because I love recycling in all its forms. I use only clothing and recycled fabrics, often beyond wear or repair, hooking the salvaged strips of material through a hessian backing. I taught myself out of a book many years ago, ‘Rag Rugs’ by Juju Vail, a Canadian inspiration for her unbridled use of colour and fabric. She showed me what was possible and the answer really is … anything and everything!
The little mobile phone bags are also made from scrap fabrics, recycled clothes and sari ribbons. No two are the same and each side of the bag is also different.
