Small Sculpture Prize 2022

3 June - 3 July 2022

Presented by Perpetual Guardian in association with Te Motu Vineyard and the Waiheke Community Art Gallery, the Small Sculpture Prize is a national award for an original free standing or wall sculpture up to 800mm in any direction. The premiere prize is $3000 and a merit prize of $1500.

The selector and judge this year is Dr.Kriselle Baker, fine art specialist, writer and publisher.  

The winner of this year's Premier Prize is Juliana Duran, and the merit award goes to Birgit Moffit. The Gallery benefactor award for an emerging artist went to Agata Leszczynska.

Entries opened on Monday 28 March and close Monday 18 April 2022. Up to two works may be submitted and a maximum of two images of each work must accompany the submission. Work should not have been exhibited previously.

Monday 18  April 2022: Closing date for submissions. 

Monday 16 May 2022: Artists advised of selection

Monday 23 May 2022: Two Print quality images to be delivered to the gallery for publicity purposes.

Friday 27 May 2022: work to have arrived at the gallery. (Note: Courier or deliver to the Gallery, Fullers does not provide a transport service anymore) 

Friday 3 June - Sunday 3 July 2022: Exhibition dates.

Friday 3 June 2022: Gala Exhibition Award Announcement.

Wednesday 6 July 2022: Unsold works available for collection.

How to enter: Entries open 28 March 2022.  To complete an entry you need to follow the sequence. We recommend you prepare your Artist's Statement, CV and all imagery to the required file format and size before completing the entry form. Follow the process through by clicking the 'continue' button at the bottom of each page as this will progress through to payment and entry completion. 

Jpeg file images no larger than 2 MB, artist Statement, CV, (in Word or PDF) can include special requirements for display ie: power. Concluding with the entry fee of $45 (non-refundable) paid on-line.  You can submit up to two images of each work (jpegs not larger than 2MB) and a current CV. If this is your first time visiting our website you will need to 'create an account'. You will also be able to pay the entry fee online. Your images go into an image gallery which is accessed by the selector. If you do not have access to a computer please contact us to submit.

Entry Criteria: The exhibition is open to any New Zealand resident upon payment of the entry fee (non-refundable) $45. Up to two works can be submitted and a maximum of two images of each work must accompany the submission. Work must not have been exhibited previously. Work must be for sale and no larger than 800mm in height or length. WCAG reserves the right to decline or accept a submission. Appropriate packaging, insurance, freighting and postal costs to the gallery and return are the artists responsibility. The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. WCAG reserves the right to reproduce exhibited images for publicity purposes.

Presentation of Work: If your work is selected it will need to arrive at the gallery no later than Friday 27 May 2022. Please attach to the work: The name and address of the artist, the retail price of the work (including GST) the title, size and medium. Work must be adequately packaged for return of work with pre-paid courier tickets or similar arrangements. (Note: Fastways does not collect from the island and Fullers does not provide a transport service anymore)
