Art Matters - Barry Fenton

6 - 27 May 2022

Barry Fenton (Baz) presents a diverse exhibition discussing why art matters.

Works using posters, LED and more discuss around current world matters and legends who have left us.

Baz "....I live permanently on Waiheke, and love walking Waiheke with my best mate 'Teddy'

I believe ART MATTERS and love the Picasso quote "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life"

I'm a strictly amateur artist with  no particular style, and most of my art is for myself or charity events.

I love doing mixed media....Robert Rauschenberg is my favourite artist.

I love abstracts in oils...and am a real Rothko fan.

Love graffiti and Banksy...and spent a few years exclusively doing graffiti.

Love NEON and LED.

I really enjoy creating outdoor installations...and am inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

This series of works came about as a result of my love of NEON/LED and appealing posters. I have been doing these for a few years for charity art shows on Waiheke and they have been very popular....selling over 50 pieces. If a piece you like has been sold then you can commission another one...they are not one off pieces..."

Proceeds go to "Project Reach Out Waiheke", a charitable trust with the vision, "Enabling the wellbeing of people on Waiheke who have a diagnosed mental illness".

This exhibition has closed early. An apology was issued in relation to any offence caused.
