"..This ceramic wall sculpture has been Pit fired on the beach using combustibles collected from Muriwai…Driftwood, shells, feathers, seaweed, seabird bones.

The carbon and minerals from the combustibles leave an energy and natural imprint very localized to the area.

Kintsugi is the ancient art of mending breakages with gold.

As an alternative to gold, I partly mended my pit fired pieces with Muriwai earth.

This represented to me, healing through nature" - Amanda Kemp
