Elizabeth graduated with a BA degree in Criminology as well as a BA First Class Honours degree in Gender and Women’s Studies, at Victoria University of Wellington, before embarking on the Post Graduate Diploma in Maori Visual Arts at Massey University.  After completing the programme with Distinction, under the supervision of renown Maori artist, Professor Robert Jahnke, Elizabeth’s pursuits in the Fine Arts, coupled with her strong research background in Maori and Indigenous Studies, Feminism, Gender, Sexuality, Critical Theory and Social Consciousness, has resulted in PhD scholarship that serves as a counter-narrative designed to highlight the intersecting relationships between Maori women representations, science, art and colonisation.  Elizabeth offers invaluable contributions to the promotion of representations of Maori women as potential sources of empowerment that enrich our lives and enhance wellbeing.

Elizabeth lives on Waiheke with her wife, Hina, and their increasing number of tamariki (not to forget the precious Bachan!).
