Originally from Scotland, I have been living in New Zealand since 2009, and Waiheke since 2015.
My work is concerned with a re-imagining of the urban landscape. Focusing on the sometimes chaotic meshing between the man-made and the organic, I aim to create a visual language that speaks to the transformation and flux within the space we all share. Change and growth, destruction and renewal.
This allows my imagery to be both sharply focused on the minutiae, or to draw back and view the greater energies at play within the cosmopolis.
The corroded and scarred surface of the etching plate allows me to create my own ‘living’ environment of creation, ruination and regrowth, allowing both the deliberate constructive mark and the organic ‘accident’ to co-exist beside each other.
