My interest in woodwork began in the mid 2000s on Waiheke Island where I attended community education woodwork classes for over 4 years. During this period I was involved with the Red Shed and Up-cycle arts collectives.
To develop my skills in terms of design and construction I enrolled at the Centre for Fine Woodworking (Nelson) on the full time furniture makers’ course (graduating 2012) learning the fundamental skills for furniture design and build.
I like working with sustainably grown native and exotic timber and I am passionate about the use of recycled materials. For a natural finish to enhance the beauty of the wood I use shellac, Danish Oil, or my own homemade beeswax polish.I am inspired by the clean lines of Scandinavian design and Mid Century Modern. I admire the simplicity and ethos of the Shaker style.
I now live in Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula where I design and make a variety of fine woodwork creations in my home workshop. I am open to visitors by appointment.
