It may be winter but there's a lot going on over the next few weeks kicking off with:
1) Liz Eastmond Talks about Frances Hodgkins on Saturday 29 June at 4pm - All Welcome! Liz, art historian, writer, ex - Mrs Tivoli, has written on Frances Hodgkins and curated an exhibition of her work at the Adam Art Gallery at Victoria University in Wellington and we invite you to join her for a talk at the gallery. Don't miss the exhibition, Frances Hodgkins: A European Journey on now at the Auckland Art Gallery.
2) Then on Friday 5th July at 6pm, A Conversation about ART:.. that conversation you've always wanted to have....
Prior to the performance of the play ART by Yasmin Reza at the Waiheke Community Theatre, the gallery invites you to a lively discussion about Art with:
A SCHOLAR- Elizabeth Eastmond
An ARTIST - Paora Toi Te Rangiuaia
A COLLECTOR - Susie Flegg
Compered by Matthew Harte the guests above will present short statements from their different perspectives and then field questions from the audience..it’s bound to get interesting!
3) Saturday 6 July at 3:30 down at Owhanake Barn (57 Korora Rd.) Te Hononga Collective presents an Update on the Te Raa Project. Entry by koha, plus auction of fine weaving in support of the project. Refreshments will be served.
4) Saturday 13 July at 3:45 at Matiatia Wharf, come and celebrate with a blessing of Te Werowero - The Ongoing Challenge by sculptor Chris Bailey. The work will be staying on the island thanks to a fantastic fundraising effort by Dan Harrop, Barry Fenton, many generous folk, organisations and you, the community, thank you and congratulations to everyone involved.
