A Big Thank You!

More than 300 people enjoyed a great day out on Waiheke on 15 March visiting beautiful homes to support the Waiheke Community Gallery.

Waiheke Community Art Gallery Chair Jane Parlane said, “It was a day out of the box with the sun shining on seven gorgeous houses which the owners had very kindly opened for the tour, people just loved the tour and the gallery received many compliments about the event.”

The event raised over $20,000 for the gallery which receives very little institutional funding.

We would like to thank the owners – it’s such a privilege to visit these private spaces and many hours went into preparing the homes for the tour- and also our 50 volunteers who helped in the houses, at the gallery and on buses.

We were also very fortunate to have the support of wonderful local sponsors – Waiheke Real Estate, Fullers, Waiheke Island Wine Tours, Goldie Estate, Be My Guest and The Oyster Inn.

For the first time this year people on the tour voted for their favourite house with the Palm Beach house winning and receiving two premium bottles of Woodside Hill wines. The beachfront house was recently extensively rebuilt with the design by Paul Macintosh of Harris Macintosh Design who lives on Waiheke.

There were two lucky draws for people on the tour with Jill O’Keefe from Waiheke winning the dinner for two at The Oyster Inn and Bhanu Patel two Waiheke Island Wine Tours. The Billy Apple wine box raffle was won by Cynthia Innes.
