Michel Tuffery's Waiheke residency has been a stunning success. High points were his inspirational tutoring and mentoring of our young people, his research of Waiheke's history that has opened eyes and minds, the formal visit to Piritahi Marae where he gifted an adze stone brought back from Rarotonga, a wonderful evening with Pacific Island opera singers, ans his superb exhibition of paintings, carved shells, woodcut prints and giant kites. Michel has promised to return for hSOTG 2017 and fly his Manu Aute kites during the event.Heartfelt thanks to Michel, Jayne, Patrons and donors to the programme and everyone who participated and helped in so many ways to to the success of this years Artist In Residence Programme.
