The gallery is delighted to announce that our 2016 Artist in Residence is Wellington artist Michel Tuffery.
Michel who is of Samoan, Tahitian and Cook Island descent is one of New Zealand's best known contemporary artists, with a practice that spans printmaking, painting, sculpture and performance work. Michel will be coming to Waiheke in April for his first six weeks and again in August for another six weeks prior to his September exhibition in the gallery. During his time here he will focus on painting and will be facilitating workshops at our local schools. Michel has recently worked with the Far North District Council on a programme of student workshops and last year saw him in France working with the community of Arras.
We will keep you posted on events at the Owhanake Barn where you can meet and share time with Michel and see the development of his exhibition work. Thank you to our Benefactors and Artist in Residence Patrons who makes this Residency programme possible.
