He Wai – our celebration of Matariki 2014

This exhibition by local and visiting Māori artists of artworks created from clay, harakeke and pounamu will encourage kōrero. A series of artist talks presented alongside the exhibition is a great opportunity to learn more about Māori traditions and their relevance in modern urban living.

In addition a programme of workshops will take place each weekend.

Local Soul Sister Mel Davis talks us through Some of the intricacies of Maori Waiata

Te Kupu: Artist environmental Activist and Poet Antionio Te Maioha shares his Poetry and discusses the Art of Whaikorero.

Waiheke resident Jeanine Clarkin an experienced Fashion Designer is once again curating the Matariki exhibition. “Jeanine’s many contacts from all parts of New Zealand contribute to the richness of our annual Matariki exhibition always exploring new themes to offer our viewers an enriching experience” says Gallery Director Linda Chalmers.
