"My Father Was a Landscape Painter"
Recently from Christchurch and a long career as an Art teacher, Barbara has found her earthquake experience and new life on Waiheke Island has inspired her to experiment with many media, materials and stored ideas. The result is 2D and 3D constructions, using anything from her mum's old linen to her father's oil paintings. The results push proprietary boundaries and question ownership, whether it is land or possessions. This unique collaboration with her deceased Father's work, has layers of history and she has likened some of her surfaces to early Roman tablets, whereby writing was scraped away and a whole new message overlaid.
