Hamish Coney, curator of A Graphic Reminder – Kurt Von Meier's Elam 1962/64 will present a Gallery Talk at 2pm on Sunday 2 April – All Welcome!

This exhibition features a selection of works from the Kurt von Meier Collection including early studies by PatHanly, Gretchen Albrecht, Michael Illingworth, Pauline Thompson, Geoff Thornley and Robert Ellis. The collection was acquired during the early 1960s – the period von Meier was posted to Elam School of Fine Arts as Senior Lecturer in Art History.

Gifted to Hamish Keith by von Meier’s partner Marijane Anthony, the 200+ works were in turn generously gifted to Waiheke Community Art Gallery. Keith describes it as “a unique account of the beginnings of contemporary New Zealand art: specifically focusing on early creative innovations in 1960s Auckland”.
